Frequently Asked Questions:

Application/Entries

Q:  How late can I turn in my application?

A:  If your application is postmarked after the application deadline, you will be subject to a late fee. If the schedule has already been posted, your entry will only be accepted at the discretion of the chief referee.

Q:  We would like to add a member to our maneuvers team, and the application deadline has past. What is the procedure to do so?

A:  As long as the team application was postmarked by the application deadline, the new team member will not be subject to the late fee. Please fill in an amended team application and have the new team member fill out a competition application with only the team maneuevers event checked off; submit the applications along with the team maneuvers entry fee.

Q:  Why does each member of a maneuver team or interpretive duet/team need his/her own application and why is a separate application needed for the team events?

A:  We must verify that all competitors are members of USFS and are in good standing with their respective clubs. Also, a common problem from the previous years was that the team captain ended up paying the entire entry fee for the team. A separate application for the team is needed so we can match up the team with its members.

Q:  The application deadline is approaching and the members of my manuever team or interpretive duet/team have not been finalized. What should I do?

A:  As long as the team captain submits his/her competition application and the team application by the application deadline, member of the team can be added after the deadline and not be subject to the late fee. Since the addition of a team will affect the scheduling of the competition, team applications that are submitted AFTER the application deadline will be subject to the late fee. Please note that team withdraws are handled the same way as individual event withdraws. You can withdraw a team prior to the application and be refunded your entry fee. After the application deadline, you will forfeit your entry fee(s).

Q:  I do not see an event I would like to enter in. Who do I contact?

A:  Once the competition application has been approved by the chief referee and posted, new events cannot be added. However, the competition committee is constantly looking for ways to improve the competition and would like to hear if there are events competitiors are interested in. Please send an e-mail to the competition chair indicating your interest in a new event. We appreciate your feedback.

Q:  Can the members of a duet or interpretive team be in different age categories.

A:  Yes. The members of a duet or interpretive team can be in different age categories and still compete on the same team.
