Frequently Asked Questions

Q:
I have a scheduling conflict and cannot perform in the recital.  What should I do?
A:   Please notify Michelle and your instructor as soon as possible.  Please also note that costumes are not refundable if they have been purchased already.

Q:
Can I join a recital class that has already started?
A:  You are more than welcome to join a class at anytime.  However, participation in the recital is not guaranteed.  In order to perform in the recital if joining a class mid-session, instructor permission must be obtained, and a costume needs to be obtained prior to the recital.  Please note that many of the costumes are custom made-to-order and can take up to 12 weeks to receive them.

Q:
What if I have specific questions about the recital that were not answered here?
A:  Please see your class instructor first. If your instructor cannot answer your questions, e-mail Miss Michelle.

Q:
Do I perform on both days?
A:   It depends on which class you are in.  Some classes perform on either Saturday or NA.  Other classes perform on both days.  Please see the class performances chart to determine which day(s) you will be performing.

Q:
Where is the rehearsal and recital?
A: The recital and the rehearsal are both at Upper Merion High School.  Directions to Upper Merion High School.

Q:  When will pictures be taken?
A: Pictures will be taken after the class is done performing during dress rehearsal. Both class and individual pictures will be taken at this time.

Q:
Do I have to go to the rehearsal?
A:  If you are performing in the recital, you must be at the dress rehearsal.  It is VERY important that you attend the rehearsal.   Rehearsal is the only chance you will get to practice your routine(s) onstage before the recital.  The stage is quite different from the studio, so it is best that you try your routine out and work out the kinks before performing it in front of a large audience.  Another reason to be at the rehearsal is that it is going to be your only chance to see all the other routines.  During the recital, you will be backstage the entire time.

Q:
What time do I have to be at dress rehearsal and how long do I need to stay?
A:  The time you need to be at dress rehearsal depends on which class(es) you are in. Please see the class performances chart for your arrival time(s). Arrival times for dress rehearsal are spaced in 60-90 minute blocks. Multiple classes will be arriving at the same time slot; we will run the show in order. To allow for spacing on stage as well as portraits, dancers need to arrive at their posted time may be there for the entire 60-90 minutes.

Q:
Will there be a video of the recital available?
A:  Yes, a high quality video shot by a professional videographer will be available for sale.  Prices and order information are available at a later time.  Please also note that video cameras will not be allowed in the auditorium during the recital.

Q:
How early can we show up at the high school for the recital?
A:  The doors to the high school will open at 11:15 AM on Saturday and at NA on NA. Please plan accordingly.

Q:
Can my child leave the recital after he/she is done performing?
A:  No.  All dancers must remain signed in backstage for the duration of the show. All dancers will be brought back on stage for the curtain call/finale.

Q:
Are parents allowed backstage during the recital?
A:  Only staff and volunteers are allowed backstage during the recital.  Parents may come backstage to pick up their children after the recital.
